AdaShape alpha 0.1.6 is out.
This version introduced Shape Editor! Now you can model complex profiles right in AdaShape.
The ShapeEditor can be used also the edit the imported SVG profiles.

Shapes and Shape Editor
“Shapes” are what an expert might call prismatic extrusions from a 2-dimensional base shape.
But it’s simply a shape you would get by extruding very solid play-doh through a hole that is the shape of the profile shape.
The Shape Editor view is an inbuilt editor for this 2D drawing data.
The profile elements are analytic just like the basic shapes so you can change the resolution of your mesh on the fly.
All of the styling options provided for SVG imported shapes we introduced in 0.15 work with the inbuilt Shapes as well.
Solid and buffered - as well as “edge treatment” to the start and end edges - bevels or rounding.
You can now generate text as well. Serial numbers? Name plates? Why not!
The detailed instructions can be found in the Changelog. We are still honing the UX so can’t really give enough guarantees to merit a formal manual at this point.
To try this out, you can
- Download 0.1.6 on GitHub
- See Changelog for detailed instructions
- See introduction to the Shape Editor in 0.1.6 New Features Video
So what can you with Shapes? For example a desk organizer!
- See a quick sample project in 42 Second Desk Organizer Video
Here is as an example a slightly more complex desk organizer than the one shown on the video - but the same modeling methods are fully applicable.
