Pack

Group selected objects into a single packed instance — useful before mirroring, cloning, or Deep Edit workflows.

Pack Selected takes two or more objects and combines them into a single packed instance. The origin of the new instance is set to the current combined position of the selected objects. From that point on, you can move, rotate, scale, clone, or mirror the group as a unit.

When to use Pack

  • Before mirroring a group. Mirror operates on a single object. Pack the objects first, then mirror the result.
  • Before cloning a group. Clone the packed instance to repeat the whole assembly across your model.
  • To organise complex models. Packing related parts keeps the Parts Tree readable and makes large models easier to navigate.

How to pack

  1. Select the objects you want to group.
  2. Open the Instance Management menu and choose Pack Selected.

The selected objects are replaced by a single packed instance in the scene and in the Parts Tree.

Editing after packing

A packed instance is a single object at the top level. To edit its sub-components, use Deep Edit. Deep Edit lets you select and modify the individual objects inside the pack without unpacking it. Exit Deep Edit to return to working with the pack as a unit.
