Naming Objects
Every object has a name — edit it in the Value References panel to keep complex models organised.
Every object in AdaShape has a name. Primitives receive automatic names — a box is named “Box”, a sphere is named “Sphere”, and so on. Objects imported from files take their name from the filename.
Names appear in two places: the Parts Tree, next to the entity ID, and the Value References sidebar. As a model grows, descriptive names make it much faster to find and select the right object.
Editing a name
- Select the object in the scene or in the Parts Tree.
- Look at the top of the Value References panel — a text field shows the current name.
- Click the field, type the new name, and confirm.
The name updates immediately in both the Parts Tree and the Value References panel.
Naming conventions
There are no enforced rules. Short, descriptive names work best — “Left Bracket”, “Lid”, “Mounting Hole” rather than “Object 1”. If you use Clone to repeat a part, name the source clearly; the name helps you identify which object is the original when you need to edit it.
