Cylinder

Create a cylinder with a configurable radius and height.

A cylinder is a circular solid with flat top and bottom faces. It is the natural starting point for pins, posts, tubes, knobs, and holes.

Adding a Cylinder

Add Cylinder toolbar button

Click the Add Cylinder button in the toolbar. A cylinder appears in the scene at the current position.

Parameters

Select the cylinder to see its parameters in the Value References panel.

Parameter What it controls
Radius Distance from center axis to surface
Height Length along the vertical axis

Type a value directly into any field, or drag the on-screen handles to adjust interactively.

Creating holes

The most common use of a cylinder is as a cutting shape. Position the cylinder where you want the hole, size it to the correct diameter, then select both objects and apply Boolean Cut. The cylinder is subtracted from the target object, leaving a clean circular hole.

For precise hole placement, use the Focus Pointer to snap to a surface, then use Place to Focus Pointer to position the cylinder exactly.

Mesh quality

Like all curved surfaces, a cylinder is rendered as a triangle mesh. The default tessellation is smooth enough for most work. Set tessellation to High or Ultra before final export.
