Layers and Display

Toggle the grid, reference points, edge lines, X-Ray, and wireframe rendering using the Layers toolbar.

The Layers toolbar gives you independent control over what is drawn in the viewport. Each toggle is on or off — they do not affect the model, only what you see.

Layer Toggles

Layer What it shows When to use it
Grid Construction grid on the base plane Spatial reference during placement and sketching
Points Reference points and vertices Checking vertex positions; snapping reference
Edges Hard edges and silhouette lines highlighted on mesh surfaces Evaluating edge flow and surface transitions
X-Ray Transparent rendering of all objects Inspecting internal geometry; positioning objects inside other objects
Wireframe Wireframe mesh in place of solid rendering Checking mesh structure; diagnosing tessellation

Notes on specific layers

Edges draws a line wherever the surface normal changes sharply — at hard edges and along the silhouette of curved surfaces. It is useful for reading form when rendering alone is not enough.

X-Ray makes every object semi-transparent. Geometry behind other geometry becomes visible. Use it when you need to see how parts relate internally, or when placing a feature inside a shell.

Wireframe replaces solid rendering with the triangle mesh. The detail you see depends on the current tessellation resolution — raise the level if the mesh looks too coarse.

Toggle any layer at any time. The setting does not create an undo point.
